Bihler Automated Assembly Machines

Assembly is a critical part of the manufacturing process. Your company invests time and money to produce each component, and a sufficient assembly process combines the pieces to complete the product. Accuracy and efficiency are essential during assembly, so implement an automated solution from Bihler.

Bihler of America has assembly machines you can automate to perform specific functions at exact speeds. Our machines connect with the VariControl VC 1 machine process system. Program your Bihler equipment to serve as medical device assembly automation machines for treatment instruments. Or, tailor your Bihler systems to function as automated electronics assembly machines when building circuit breakers. Bihler’s versatile technology is applicable in numerous manufacturing environments.

Pick and Place Units

Bihler produces two pick and place units, PPE 1 and PPE 2, that offer short cycle times and premier accuracy during repetitive functions. Both models feature extensive traverse paths that reach components vertically and horizontally. PPE 2 offers the greatest vertical stroke at 75 millimeters, while PPE 1 has the greatest horizontal stroke at 150 millimeters. Each machine can hold 1.5 kilograms. The PPE 1 has a pulse rate of 100 1/min, while the PPE 2 offers 120 1/min.

We also offer a lift-rotate unit with pick and place functionality. The HDE is a versatile machine with a programmable lift and rotation axis. Beyond picking and placing, the HDE’s swivel arm and gripper are ideal for sorting. This efficient, consistent machine pulses up to 200 times per minute and repeats strokes and rotations within ± 0.01 millimeter of deviation.

Benefits of Assembly Automation

Some prominent advantages to automating your assembly processes include:

  • Speed: Automated assembly machines finish dozens of cycles each minute, completing projects faster than employee-operated equipment.
  • Accuracy: Automated assembly tools repeat tasks with little variance, resulting in consistent products.
  • Productivity: Automating assembly establishes a consistent workflow that frees your personnel to take on other responsibilities. Meanwhile, the VC 1’s monitoring system signals maintenance and repair needs to prevent significant downtime.
  • Savings: Assembly automation is an investment that produces a substantial return by improving output and reducing labor expenses.
